Meet Your Portuguese Instructor
Evandro Rodrigues is a Brazilian instructor of Portuguese as a Foreign Language with more than 15 years of experience teaching students from all over the world. At 57, he brings not only expertise but also a passion for helping learners discover the richness of the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture.
Throughout his career, Evandro has worked with international companies from Brazil, the USA, Japan, Canada, and many other countries, offering engaging and effective lessons tailored to different learning needs. His teaching style is interactive, motivating, and fun, always creating an environment where students feel comfortable to practice and grow.
In addition to teaching, Evandro has worked as a translator and developed learning resources that give students access to the informal side of the language—something not often found in traditional textbooks. His classes combine both formal and informal Portuguese, so learners gain confidence in real-life communication while building a solid foundation in grammar and vocabulary.
Recognized for his dedication, Evandro received the Excellence in Teaching Languages Award from the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies in both 2014 and 2020. He also contributed to the book Teaching and Learning Portuguese in Canada with a chapter on the challenges of acquiring a new language outside the classroom.
